The peculiar galaxy in this image is Arp 216, a disturbed spiral galaxy. The two red-green-blue bands of color on the top left are asteroids in our solar system which drifted through the frame. The bright star at the bottom is a sun-like star 500 light years away from us. The distant background is an ocean of innumerable galaxies.
